While on-boarding a client recently, I was reminded of a common question I get asked in the early days of an engagement, “What are we doing wrong?”

Rest assured, if you are able and willing to engage a process/business consultant or a ConnectWise/Autotask/IT Glue/[insert your tool here] expert, you aren’t doing anything wrong. Your ability and willingness to engage an expert means you are successful. Your clients are getting served and you are getting paid.  You are already ahead of 99% of the world population. (I looked this up, it’s actually closer to 99.6%.) You are also beating out 22.5% of your entrepreneurial peers who’s businesses failed in the first year. You are already a legend, and don’t forget it!*

If there is something you don’t like about your business, or that I or another consultant recommends you do differently, it’s simply that.  A different way to do business. Now, our way, may lead to some improvements in your business, but you were not wrong. The fact is, you got here by making the best decisions you could with the information you had at the time. You’ve sought out expertise, because you wish expand the available information, allowing you to make new decisions at a new time.

Remember, you are the leader of your firm (and a legend). When you get advice from an expert, heed it well, but its only information being added. You ultimately have to make, and live with positive and negative consequences, any and all decisions.

My last point leads to me to one of Eureka Process’s unique differentiators, which is that we believe in meeting you where you are. Many experts and consultants say that if you want results, you have to do “X” specifically. While there is merit in this approach, we believe that every business and business owner has different experiences, beliefs, and cultures. Therefor, it is our job to meet them where they are, acknowledge them for the success and legend that they are, recognize they made the best decisions they could with the information they had at the time, and then start continually informing them of options and the shared learning experiences from both, our team’s direct work experience, and our work with existing and past clients.

If you’d like to add to the dialogue, feel free to comment below. Either way, to your continued success!
